About Sponsored Stories

The goal of sponsored stories (also known as sponsored content) is to sell, not to inform or educate.

When looking through websites for news,

avoid websites that:

  • end in “lo” ex: Newslo. These sites take pieces of accurate information and then package that information with false or misleading “facts” (sometimes for the purposes of satire or comedy)
  • that end in “.com.co” as they are often fake versions of real news sources.
  • Publish stories  that are not  also being published by known/reputable news sites.
  • are poorly designed and/or use ALL CAPS. The content of these sites should be verified through reputable sources.
