Primary Sources - original research impacting the discipline
Secondary sources - Interpretation of original research, useful as a starting point for an argument or means of clarifying an element of a presentation. (e.g. Scholarly Books, survey articles).
Tertiary Sources summarize and provide context (a.k.a. Reference Sources) and may be encyclopedia articles, medical dictionaries, or textbooks.
